Weekend Update: Lake Tahoe

LakeTahoe

I was lucky enough to spend the Fourth of July in Lake Tahoe with some of my favorite people. It was so wonderful to spend some time out of the city – it’s always nice to slow down a little bit and remember that there’s more to life than our 9-5’s.

Today is also my one year anniversary of living in SF, and what a wild and crazy ride it’s been. If the next year is anything like this past one has been, I’m one lucky girl. Thanks for having me, San Francisco – I love ya!

weekend update: stay forever, please.

I finally had the chance to sit down and comb through the photos from my mom and sister’s SF visit two weekends ago, and it made me miss them even more! I hadn’t seen them since Christmas, and although time has been flying lately, it seems like way too long since I’ve seen them.

One of the best parts of having people visit is that I get the opportunity to do touristy things and try things that I normally wouldn’t do on a “typical” weekend (whatever that means). We went to Off the Grid at Fort Mason on Friday, had high tea at Nieman Marcus on Saturday and saw Mental at Kabuki Theater. Easter Sunday consisted of brunch at Radish in the Mission, stumbling upon the Hunky Jesus contest in Dolores Park and wandering over to Haight Ashbury for some people watching. I took the day off on Monday and we ventured to Sausalito to have lunch at one of my faves (Salito’s!) with my Grandpa – he just got back from a trip to Africa, and he told us all about his safari adventures. We ended the day at the Full House house before grabbing dinner at Tacolicious (the best).

Whew – that seems like a lot when I write it out. I’m so happy that we got to spend time together, and I’m counting down the days until I head up home to Portland again (or until they come back for round two!).

Now for a photo dump.

Weekend Update — Beach Day

I know this weekend update is coming a week late (oops!) but this past week has been a little crazy with New Year’s Eve, traveling and getting back into the swing of things here in SF. Excuses, excuses. Anyway — last weekend, Hannah, Gawain and I took a little trip to Cannon Beach to see the coast, hit up Moe’s and (obviously) head to Bruce’s Candy Kitchen. It was the perfect day at the beach and I am SO glad we went.

* Sidenote, this photo was taken when I took a wrong turn driving over to Moe’s and thought I was lost. But instead, I found the homes that get to live with this view all day & night — LUCKY.

The Oregon coast is special (it’s definitely not “the beach” and there aren’t sailboats everywhere and people laying out) but it has its own brand of Pacific Northwest magic that I have loved my whole life.
